the one that got away
"...and as he sowed, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. A lonely lettuce seedling growing in the driveway.It must have escaped from the planter enroute to the garden.
It didn't last long.

Now, lettuce isn't one I'd expect in odd places! Sunflowers, maybe, but not lettuce. I just had a nice salad from the garden. We also have some little volunteer dill sprouts that I'm finding are good in the salad also. And the basil in the greenhouse is growing.
