the one that got away

"...and as he sowed, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. And others fell upon the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away." Matthew 13:4-6

It must have escaped from the planter enroute to the garden.
It didn't last long.

Now, lettuce isn't one I'd expect in odd places! Sunflowers, maybe, but not lettuce. I just had a nice salad from the garden. We also have some little volunteer dill sprouts that I'm finding are good in the salad also. And the basil in the greenhouse is growing.
Hope you and your critters are having a good June.
